How YouTube Became The First Streaming Platform of The Summer?

In July, the YouTube platform hit record numbers in streaming: 10% of total TV views. What influenced the growth of views? What will be YouTube’s future development trend? We share with you a fresh report from Nielsen’s Gauge.

According to research, YouTube reached a “historic” number of streaming views in July: 10.4%. For comparison, a couple of months ago this figure held steady at 7%, barely reached 9% by the end of June and only now reached the highest figure.

We know: such numbers may seem insignificant, but what if we say that YouTube streaming became the MOST viewed in July? Yes, even Netflix was overboard. Overall, numbers and charts speak better than words, so let us share a visual graph from Nielsen’s Gauge.

The First Streaming Platform

As you can see, Netflix only has 8.4% of all streaming, and Amazon Prime Video has even less at 3.4%. Overall, streaming on internet platforms has become the most popular type of content this summer. What is the reason? We know the answer for sure. The Olympics!

Honestly, it seems like only someone without internet access hasn’t seen the memes and news from the opening of the Olympic Games in Paris. And as the numbers and statistics say, the opening was mostly watched via YouTube streaming.

According to “WrapPro”: “July was a notable month for streaming with 10 titles exceeding 1 billion viewing minutes for the first time ever. The month now holds four of the top 10 most streamed days on record.

By the way, it’s not just the Olympics that have been so favorable to streaming platforms.  For example, the premiere of “House of the Dragon” helped to reach 4.7 billion views on the streaming platform Max. And that’s not even taking into account other iconic premieres and events, which attracted 41% of all streaming to internet streaming.
