A Glitch Caused YouTube To Block Accounts and Delete Channels As Spam

In recent hours, YouTube has deleted a number of channels and blocked many accounts due to a systems failure, allegedly for violating its “Spam, deceptive practices, & scams policies.” This affected even users who had not uploaded a single video on the platform. The YouTube administration acknowledged the problem and said it was already working to restore the service’s normal operation and access to paid subscriptions.

“We’re seeing reports of channels being incorrectly removed for Spam & Deceptive Practices. Our teams are actively working on reinstating the channels. If your channel was incorrectly removed and reinstated, you might notice some content, such as playlists, might be missing. Don’t worry – this is just a delay and all your content will soon be restored,” reads a statement from YouTube management.

The wrongful blocking affected not only channels, but also the accounts of regular users of the platform, including YouTube Premium subscribers, who cannot watch videos or listen to YouTube Music. When you log out of your account, this feature is restored. The platform notifies creators and users about the blocking via email, giving the reason for this measure. Complaints have been received from the US, Asia and Europe.
