New: ‘Monthly Audience’ on YouTube Music

YouTube decided to follow in Spotify’s footsteps and make their own stats for artists called ‘Monthly Audience’. How will it be different and why did they add this innovation? We will share with you in this article.

Table of Contents

Everyone seems to have gotten used to having an artist’s monthly stats on all music services by now. It includes song saving, streaming, and visits to the musician’s page. As it turned out, this feature was sorely lacking in YouTube Music.

As YouTube comments:

“We’re introducing a new fan-facing public metric on YouTube Music: Monthly Audience. It will update daily to show an artist’s total number of unique listeners and viewers across all formats in the last 28 days”.

What is the specialty of ‘Monthly Audience’ in YouTube Music? The new feature will collect all information about people who have watched artists’ official videos, including Shorts, as well as artists’ collaborations uploaded to other channels. What’s more, in an unusual feature, Shorts videos made with the use of artist’s music or featuring the artist (fan videos) will also be included in the metric.

It is still difficult to predict how successful this innovation will be. Nevertheless, we will continue to follow the news from the world of social media. In the meantime, read our other articles and news in the Blog section.
